Here are some commonly asked questions that I get!
Q. Will you do a commission for me?/How much are commissions?
A. Unfortunately, I don’t have time for commissions at this moment in time – I’m drawing a graphic novel and that takes up most of my time! If I do have any spare time for commissions I will shout very loudly about it on my twitter page and my facebook page.
Q. What tools do you use to make your comics?
A. I do everything digitally using a Wacom Cintiq and Photoshop!
I used to pencil everything with a mechanical pencil, line with a bic biro and then tidy up and colour on Photoshop. This was how I made the comics for the whole first Our Super Adventure hardback book!
Q. Are you going to update RentQuest/PizzaWitch any time soon??
A. I want to!! My time is tied up at the moment in other projects though. Watch this space!
Q. What other comics have inspired you?
A. I was an avid reader of Sonic The Comic (UK) as a kid! That was a big early influence for me.
Around 17, I was introduced to Scott Pilgrim and discovered Liz Prince, which were both big inspirations for me to start drawing my own comics.
I also find cartoons to be very inspiring! I’m a big fan of Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, and OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes.
Q. What’s your job?
A. This! I write and draw comics for a living.
Q. Do you have any advice for someone who is new to drawing comics?
A. Don’t wait around/hold off starting your comic, just throw yourself into it. It’s truly the best way to learn. Drawing a webcomic on a regular update schedule is good because it means you have to be frequently making things. Comic conventions make very good deadlines to get comics finished!
Q. How did you and Stef meet?
A. This is a long story, but the short version is through a mutual love of Johnny Foreigner. They’re great, check them out!
Q. What videogames do you play?
A. Currently a lot of Animal Crossing: New Horizons! Stef and I stream videogames over on Twitch sometimes – Come follow our channel!
